Auckland Zen Group
Please email / text before coming for the first time to request beginning instruction.
Info for beginners: It is necessary to receive beginner instruction before taking part in the regular weekly practice. This happens once a month, on request. This instruction provides newcomers with an orientation to the Zen Buddhist tradition, to the practice of zazen, and to the training available within the New Zealand MRO groups. For your first time: Wear comfortable and modest clothing for zazen. Please park on the nearby streets and not on the property itself. We give a $5 donation each to the centre that hosts us, please bring an EFTPOS card to make that donation. You can email from the link on the right to confirm you wish to come, or for any other questions. Along with weekly sitting, the Auckland MRO Zen group takes part in on-line Sunday discussions with Shugen Roshi, the head of the Mountains and Rivers Order, and with other MRO teachers. Zen groups are open to people of all cultural, ethnic, gender and religious backgrounds who have an interest in pursuing Zen Buddhist meditation. If you would like to learn more about our group or attend beginner instruction, please fill out the form below. |
